Acting head of KBR promises to engage best professionals in investigation into Timur Kuashev's death, Alexander Mukomolov asserts
Yuri Kokov, the acting head of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), has announced engaging the best professionals in investigation into the death of Timur Kuashev, a journalist and a social activist. This was reported by Alexander Mukomolov, a member of the Human Rights Council under the Russian President, who met the acting head of the KBR. In his turn, the head of the Kabardino-Balkaria Human Rights Centre has asked Yuri Kokov to take the investigation of the journalist's death under his personal control.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 1, the journalist's body was found in a suburb of Nalchik. The forensic examination revealed no signs of violent death.
Alexander Mukomolov hopes that although it is intricate and extraordinary, the case on the Timur Kuashev's death will be investigated impartially.
"The tragic death of Timur Kuashev caused a huge public outcry in Russia and abroad. Organizations, including the OSCE, the UNESCO, the Presidential Council on Civil Society and Human Rights, the Russian Union of Journalists, and well-known public and political figures demand to conduct objective and impartial investigation into his death. Meanwhile, no public media of Kabardino-Balkaria ever mentioned this tragedy," notes Khatazhukov in his statement posted on the website of the KBR's Human Rights Centre.
