Advocates complain about violation of prisoners' rights in Makhachkala SIZO-1
Dagestani advocates report on the existence of a special unit "G" in the territory of the SIZO-1 (pre-trial prison) of Makhachkala, to where defenders' access is hindered and where prisoners' rights are violated.
The advocate intend to report on violations of the rights of detainees kept at the unit "G" at the press conference at the newspaper "Chernovik" (Draft) to be held on August 19. The event was initiated by Murad Magomedov, a Makhachkala advocate.
Difficulties that some advocates face are connected with the reconstruction of the SIZO, said an official from the SIZO-1. According to his story, because of repairs, at present, the unit "G", the SIZO's largest unit, contains only one investigating office. The official has added that the reconstruction is to be completed in 2015 or 2016.
Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 30, in trial on the case of the murder of Said Afandi al-Chirkawi, the defendants' advocate complained to the judicial board that they could not arrange visits to their clients kept at the SIZO-1.
