Mikhail Saakashvili put on Georgia's internal wanted list

Mikhail Saakashvili, the former Georgian President, who is accused of three criminal cases, has been put on the domestic wanted list, the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) of Georgia reports.

In case of crossing the Georgian border, the former Georgian President will be detained immediately, the "Georgia-News" reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 29, the GPO charged Mikhail Saakashvili in absentia of abuse of office in the cases on the dispersal of the opposition rally in November 2007, the pogrom at the office of the "Imedi" TV Channel and seizure of property from multi-millionaire Badri Patarkatsishvili. On August 2, the court arrested Mikhail Saakashvili in absentia. On August 5, the GPO reported about new charge against Mikhail Saakashvili connected with the fact of beating the MP Valery Gelashvili. On August 13, the GPO of Georgia announced Mikhail Saakashvili's bringing to criminal liability in the case of embezzling budget funds.

Earlier it was reported that Mikhail Saakashvili treats the criminal proceedings against him as politically motivated. According to the former Georgian President, the criminal proceedings have been initiated by the order of Bidzina Ivanishvili, the former Prime Minister of Georgia and the founder of the ruling coalition "Georgian Dream". Mikhail Saakashvili believes Bidzina Ivanishvili is supported by Russia.
