South-Ossetian KGB treats complaints of Pukhaev brothers' relatives about violation of detainees' rights as unjustified
Complaints filed by the Pukhaev brothers' relatives about violations of the rights of the detained brothers are unfounded, said an official from the KGB of South Ossetia. The relatives of Batyr and Igor Pukhaev kept at the Tskhinvali IVS (temporary detention facility) on charges of treason and an attempt of coup d'etat have not asked for a visit to the defendants, the South-Ossetian KGB reports.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 14, Batyr Pukhaev and his brother Igor Pukhaev, a former South-Ossetian MP, were arrested for two months. On July 16, Batyr Pukhaev went on hunger strike in protest and refused hospitalization.
All complaints filed by the relatives about pressure on the Pukhaev brothers are imposed artificially and are "initiated by Dmitry Sanakoev (the head of the interim administrative-territorial unit on the territory of the former South-Ossetian Autonomous Region – note of the "Caucasian Knot"), who is thus trying to create an unhealthy atmosphere around the criminal case," said the official of the South-Ossetian KGB.
The KGB has also called unfounded the complaints filed by the Pukhaev brothers' relatives about the fact that a number of Russian advocates had been not allowed to represent the interests of the detainees.
