Sochi Court finds Oksana Toropova guilty of beating court marshal
On August 14, the Khosta District Court of Sochi found a local resident Oksana Toropova guilty of beating a court marshal and sentenced her to 1.5 years of conditional imprisonment and a probation term of three years.
The case the second defendant – Olga Martyniuk, a teacher of literature and Oksana's mother – was separated by the judge as a separate proceeding. Her trial will take place after the woman will be discharged from the hospital, where she was taken because of hypertensive crisis, a source from the court told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
Based on witnesses' testimonies, the court concluded that the August 22, 2013, Oksana Toropova with his mother entered the office of Federal Judge Olga Maslakova and began "in an insulting manner expressing her disagreement with the judge's ruling, refusing to leave the room."
"The Court has disregarded our version of the events, which we have repeatedly announced. The fact is that we entered the judge's office with her permission. We did not offend her, but just tried to clear out, why she had refuses to consider our application, and why her ruling to reject the application was not given to us in time, for us to have a chance to appeal against it. It was the court marshal who attacked us, and not we – him. He beat up my mother, which was evidenced by the examination," said Oksana Toropova, who now plans to file a complaint to the higher instance against the court verdict.
