In Chechnya, law enforcers question more HRC "Memorial": over 1000 interrogated after Kadyrov lost his mobile phone

At night on August 17, in the Shali District of Chechnya, policemen and district officials summoned and questioned more than one thousand people, including minors, in connection with disappearance of a mobile phone of Ramzan Kadyrov, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 16, in the eastern part of Chechnya, the Shali District opened the ethnographic complex "Shira-Yurt" designed like an ancient Chechen aul (village).

The opening ceremony was attended by Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov. Prior to entering the venue of the festival, guests were carefully searched by Ramzan Kadyrov's guards, and they had to park their cars not closer than one kilometre away from the venue of the festival. By the end of the event, it became known that Ramzan Kadyrov lost his mobile phone.

"The guests of the festival were informed about that fact through a loudspeaker. Then, law enforcers began questioning the people, who attended the festival, if anyone saw the mobile phone lost by Ramzan Kadyrov. The questioning brought no result. After the guests went home, heads of the administrations began calling persons responsible for organizing the festival to find out from them the names of all participants and persons invited to the festival," the HRC "Memorial" states in its release.
