Train traffic near Sochi is completely restored, RZhD reports

Power supply interrupted because of a broken catenary system on the railway in the vicinities of Sochi has been restored. At present, trains leave the resort city in accordance with schedule, the press service of the RZhD (Russian Railways) reports.

On August 17, the train traffic on the interval Dagomis-Sochi was suspended because of short circuit of the catenary system on the railway bed. On August 18, trains left stations late because of repair works, and no commuter trains were going along the interval Sochi-Loo. Tourists had to spend several nights at the railway station.

According to the RZhD, the passengers who had to stay in Sochi could renew their tickets without delays.

On August 20, the South Transport Prosecutor's Office started an inspection in connection with the mass delay of passenger trains in the resort city. Besides, the prosecutors also promised to check violation of the rights of some passengers reported by the latter to the "Ninth Channels".

It should be added that starting from August 20, the insurance company "ZHASO" cooperating with the RZhD started accepting applications for the insurance payments from the passengers of the trains detained in Sochi. However, the money will be paid only to the passengers who have been injured as a result of the incident or whose property has been damaged, since the insurance company "ZHASO" provides no insurance policy against delays of trains, stated Lyubov Proschenko, a representative of the company.
