Chechen authorities enhance security measures on eve of Akhmad Kadyrov's birthday

In Chechnya, the law enforcement bodies are being transferred to enhanced service in connection with the large-scale events to celebrate the 63rd anniversary of the birth of former Chechen leader Akhmad Kadyrov scheduled for August 23. On that day, Chechnya is to open several dozens of major social, cultural and infrastructural facilities.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by officials from the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) that on Friday, the Chechen MIA's units are to start enhanced service.

The MIA's officials have emphasized that the enhanced security measures to be introduced will not lead to any serious restrictions for the population. The enhanced measures are primarily to ensure security during the celebration events. In Grozny and other cities, the MIA will organize night patrols; some residential neighbourhoods will be closed to vehicular traffic, and additional road-and-patrol (known as DPS) posts will be introduced on some sections of highways.

Besides, on August 26-27, Grozny will host the international Islamic conference "Sufism: protection for citizens and stability for the state", dedicated to the 63rd anniversary of Akhmad-Hadji Kadyrov, stated the Muftiyat of Chechnya.
