Advocate states violations of defendants' rights in case of terror acts in Volgograd
Said Ibragimov, one of the advocates in the case of the terror acts in Volgograd, reports about violations of the rights of the four defendants. The trial began on August 11 and is held behind closed doors. The defendants deny their involvement in the terror acts.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 29, 2013, a terror act was committed in Volgograd at the railway station. On the following day, December 30, 2013, a trolleybus was blown up in Volgograd. As a result of the two acts, 34 people were lost.
The defendants are natives of Dagestan: brothers Magomednabi and Tagir Batirov, Alautdin Dadaev and Ibragim Magomedov.
According to the advocate, the defendants are deprived of the right to defence. "I still cannot meet my client. I complained to the judge; she promised to resolve the problem. During the trial the defendants were kept handcuffed, which is a violation not only of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CCP), but also of the Constitution and the international law," said Said Ibragimov.
He believes that another violation is in the fact that the charges against the four defendants are considered at one trial.
"The Batirov brothers, who, according to the prosecution, brought the suicide bombers to Volgograd in their car, are charged under the article of 'participation in an illegal armed formation (IAF)'; they are not accused of helping to commit terror acts. Therefore, it is not clear, why their case is considered here, together with the case on the terror acts. It should have been isolated into a separate proceeding and considered by the jurisdiction in Dagestan," said the lawyer.
