Rostov-on-Don residents report on growth of food prices

In Rostov-on-Don, the stores have raised prices for some groups of food products, in particular, for meat and dairy products, state residents of the region. According to the Rosstat (Russian Federal State Statistics Service), the growth in prices is not as significant as reported by the local residents.

The Rostov-on-Don city administration has opened a "hotline" for claims about unjustified growth in food prices. Meanwhile, the city residents claim they do not fear the imported products will disappear because of the sanctions imposed by the government.

The Rostov residents are sending their claims to the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, the regional office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS), and the public institutions of the regional government.

In the region, the growth in food prices was caused by a temporary ban on the import into Russia of foreign products, the agency "Delo.ru" quotes Olga Suslina, the director of the network of grocery stores in Rostov-on-Don as saying.

In turn, Andrei Ivanov, the head of the regional department for consumer market, has expressed the opinion that the Rostov Region will be not affected by the consequences of the sanctions so much as the middle and northern parts of Russia.

Let us remind you that earlier, the experts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent have agreed that the sanctions will lead to the growth of the Russian agricultural sector, and at the same time, they have noted that consumers will experience some difficulties.
