Astrakhan: Mikhail Stolyarov hospitalized from courthouse; his case suspended

Today, the Kirov District Court of Astrakhan has pronounced the decision to suspend the criminal proceedings in the criminal case against Mikhail Stolyarov, the Mayor of Astrakhan, suspended from office, since he required hospitalization.

On November 13, 2013, Mikhail Stolyarov was detained on charges of taking a large-scale bribe. On April 18, the Kirov District Court of Astrakhan started the consideration of the criminal case against Mikhail Stolyarov. On July 26, the defendant was hospitalized to the penal colony hospital because of the aggravation of diabetes. On August 12, Mikhail Stolyarov was discharged from the hospital to receive ambulant therapy. On August 21, the Court left him under arrest.

Today, defendant Mikhail Stolyarov has been brought to the courthouse; however, he complained about feeling bad. After examination by doctors, Mikhail Stolyarov was taken to the regional clinical hospital No. 1.

Despite the protest of public prosecutor, the Court has pronounced the decision to suspend the criminal proceedings in connection with hospitalization of the defendant.

It should be noted that, while being under arrest, Mikhail Stolyarov had been already hospitalized. On April 23, he was brought to the hospital from the courtroom, since he complained of pain in his heart.
