Investigators re-open criminal case on disappearance of two Chechen residents

At the request of the Chechen Prosecutor's Office, the investigating authorities have resumed the criminal case on the disappearance in 2002 of two residents of Grozny Akhmed Saipatievich Musaitov and Azamat Sultanovich Mitsaev, who were 24 years old at that time.

"In 2003, the criminal case on the fact of their disappearance was suspended by investigators at the stage of the preliminary investigation. Meanwhile, the investigators failed to carry out the whole complex of investigating procedures to be conducted in such cases. At present, the investigation is resumed again, and the criminal case has been taken under control," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been informed at the Chechen Prosecutor's Office.

On November 11, 2002, Akhmed Musaitov, a 24-year-old native of the town of Argun, together with Azamat Mitsaev, his 24-year-old close friend, left for the city of Grozny in a car. After that, the young people disappeared, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by an official from the Investigating Department for Chechnya of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

Local observers believe that the disappeared young people could fell victims to actions of law enforcers.
