During the week of August 25-31, 2014, at least 3 persons were killed in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. No wounded persons were reported. These are the results of calculations made by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

According to the law enforcement bodies, all killed persons were suspected members of the armed underground in Dagestan.

Attacks on law enforcers

On August 26, at about 3:00 a.m., in a wooded area near the village of Matseevka in the Kizilyurt District of Dagestan, a shootout occurred, reported a source from the law enforcement bodies. While conducting the operational and search activities, policemen encountered a grouping of militants. According to the law enforcement bodies, during an armed clash, two members of illegal armed formation (IAF), presumably, from the "Khasavyurt" criminal grouping, were killed. None of the law enforcers was injured. One of the killed persons was identified as Magomedarip Magomedov, a resident of the village of Shamkhal, whose possible kidnapping had been earlier reported by his family members. The second killed person was identified as Omaraskhab Abdulkhalikov, a resident of the village of Bairamaul of the Khasavyurt District of Dagestan, who had also been considered as kidnapped. According to his relatives, his body bears signs of beatings.

On August 27, at about 2:00 a.m., fighters of the special forces of the Russian FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) found a suspected member of an IAF in the village of Vitsiyatl in the Tsuntin District of Dagestan. When law enforcers tried to detain him, the suspected militant rendered armed resistance by opening fire on them. He was killed as a result of the armed clash. During the shooting, none of the law enforcers and civilians suffered. The killed man was identified as Magomed Rasulov, an active member of the "Tsuntin" grouping. According to the law enforcement bodies, he was involved in the murder of OMON (riot police) fighters in the vicinities of the village of Shaitli in December 2013.

Detentions

On August 27, at about 10:30 p.m., after a night prayer, a Salafi mosque located near the Makhachkala highway in Buynaksk was cordoned off by the police. More than 30 mosque-goers were brought to a local police station. The detainees were registered and sent home on the same night.

Kidnappings

Isa Abdulkhalikov, a resident of the village of Bairamaul of the Khasavyurt District of Dagestan, filed a complaint about kidnapping of his son Omaraskhab Abdulkhalikov committed on August 25 by unidentified persons. According to the man, the unidentified persons in a silver VAZ-2114 car drove to the Omaraskhab's house. Three persons in civilian clothes left the car. They forced his son, who was busy in the yard of his house, into their car. Isa Abdulkhalikov associates the kidnapping with the fact that one of his sons is a member of the IAF.
