Zarema Khadjirokova accused of fraud goes on hunger strike in Maikop

Today, at the session of the Maikop City Court, Zarema Khadjirokova, the former chief accountant of the Maikop State Technological University, accused of fraud, has announced a hunger strike. She demands to transfer her trial to a different region.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 5, 2013, Zarema Khadjirokova was sentenced to 3.5 years of conditional sentence on the charge of embezzlement on a large scale. In April 2014, the woman was detained again on the initiative of the investigator, who considered the first criminal case against her. On August 25 Khadjirokova refused from her right to defence and to participate in the trial. On August 29, according to her ex-defender Lyudmila Alexandrova, the court session was held in the absence of the defence; and the defendant was brought to the courtroom by force.

Alexandrova told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that today the trial continued in the absence of the defence.

"Nothing has changed: Khadjirokova continues ignoring the trial, where prosecution witnesses were questioned today. She has informed the court that she will take no food, only water, and demanded to transfer her trial to another region in protest against the farce, how she has treated the trial," said Alexandrova.
