Volgograd Region: anti-nickel activists blame "Edinaya Rossiya" for illegal agitation

Activists of the anti-nickel movement from the city of Uryupinsk, Volgograd Region, report an illegal campaigning of the members of the "Edinaya Rossiya" (United Russia) Party; and try to withdraw Ella Chermashentseva, the party's nominee, from the elections to the City Duma of Uryupinsk.

The appeal to the "Edinaya Rossiya" was sent by e-mail on September 1; and it will be also sent by ordinary mail, said Alexander Titov, the Ataman of the Cossacks' National Cultural Autonomy of Uryupinsk.

The appeal states that voters' indignation was caused by actions of the local branches of the "Edinaya Rossiya" during the initiated 2014 election campaign. "Numerous violations of electoral legislation, ambiguous statements on nickel extraction issues, direct bribery of voters and shameless manipulation with the administrative resource are outrageous. By using the administrative resource, transport and communication means, while staying in their workplaces and by disrupting the timing of the election campaign, members of the 'Edinaya Rossiya' in localities seek to win the elections at any cost," says the appeal.
