Georgian Parliament blames Russia for military aggression on Ukraine
On September 3, the Georgian MPs have unanimously adopted a resolution on the situation in Ukraine and expressed their concern about the increase of victims of the conflict in the east of this country, while supporting its territorial integrity and accusing Russia of "a blatant military aggression."
"According to authoritative international organizations and our western partner countries, Russia is not only supporting, training, equipping and financing the separatist forces acting in the south-eastern part of Ukraine, but also is waging a blatant military aggression against a sovereign neighbouring country. There is an obvious prospect for escalation of tensions and subsequent large-scale military confrontation of the two countries, which clearly constitutes a threat to peace and stability in the region and in the world," says the resolution.
The document was adopted by 81 votes "for". The MPs from oppositional "United National Movement" Party refused to vote, saying that the resolution failed to state the personal responsibility of Vladimir Putin and the "occupation of Georgia", the "Georgia-News" reports.
