Dagestani court extends Rashid Magomedov's arrest by another month

Rashid Magomedov, a resident of the Kizilyurt District of Dagestan, suspected of illegal possession of firearms, will remain in custody until October 4. This was ruled today by the district court, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported with reference to the lawyer Sapiyat Magomedova that on August 6 the house of Rashid Magomedov in the village of Komsomolskoe, Kizilyurt District of Dagestan, was searched; and a grenade was found. On August 11 Magomedov was arrested for a month by court ruling.

Today, at the Kizilyurt District Court, Sapiyat Magomedova, the detainee's advocate, demanded to release her client.

"His father wrote a confession, saying that the above grenade, found in Magomedov's house, belonged to him, not to Rashid. This is enough to let him go," said the lawyer.

However, the judge eventually decided to extend Rashid Magomedov's arrest until October 4, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
