Workers of Yerevan "Nairit" Factory ready to civil disobedience

On September 4, in Yerevan, a protest action was held near the building of the Armenian government. The protestors have declared that in case if the requirements of workers of the "Nairit" Factory are not fulfilled, they will start civil disobedience actions.

The workers of the "Nairit" Factory protested against the closure of their factory. They demanded to restart the factory and to pay decent wages. According to them, they did not receive their wages during 18 months, while a month ago they were assured that the wage arrears would be paid out until late August, the "Aysor.am" reports.

The protestors found all the answers voiced by officials as unsatisfactory. Besides, Ovik Abramyan, the Prime Minister, failed to come out to listen to the protestors. Grach Tadevosyan, the Chairman of the trade union of the "Nairit" Factory, has proposed to address a letter to Ovik Abramyan, the Radio "Liberty" reports.

However, the workers of the "Nairit" Factory have demanded to solve the problem immediately and threatened to block the Square of Republic. The protestors have expressed their readiness to start civil disobedience actions in case if their demands are not satisfied.

The protest action of September 4 completed after Ervand Zakaryan, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, who came out to the workers, had promised that the workers of the "Nairit" Factory would be paid their wages for one month in coming days.
