Sochi policeman suspected of knocking confessions out

In Sochi, a policeman is suspected of abuse of power with use of violence. According to investigators, to obtain a confession, the policeman used physical force against a man suspected of theft, the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) reports.

In July 2014, a local resident was brought to the police station of the village of Dagomys on suspicion of stealing a motor bicycle. According to the investigators, during the conversation, the policeman struck the man several times to force him to confess to the theft.

The investigators have instituted a criminal case on the fact of abuse of power with use of violence (Paragraph "A" of Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The question of pronouncement of the pre-trial restriction measure against the suspect is under consideration, the website of the Investigating Department for the Krasnodar Territory of the ICRF reported on September 5.

It should be noted that the sanctions under the above mentioned Article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation stipulate up to 10 years of imprisonment.
