Rostov authorities postpone closure of last TAC

More than one hundred refugees from Ukraine placed in temporary accommodation centres (TACs) have refused to leave the Rostov Region, stated an official from the regional government. The refugees' refusal to leave the camps can be explained by the desire of many of them to later return home.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 29, Vasily Golubev, the Governor of the Rostov Region, announced his intention to close all the Ukrainian refugees' TACs within a week.

120 refugees from Ukraine, who had earlier agreed to go to other regions of Russia, chose to stay in the Rostov Region, the "Caucasian Knot" was told by Alexander Titov, an official from the Department for Information Policy of the Government of the Rostov Region.

According to Sergey Bondarev, the Deputy Governor of the Rostov Region, due to the stabilization of the situation in Donbas, "people, who have earlier arrived in the Rostov Region, hope to return to their homes soon."

"Given the weather conditions, we have decided to temporarily keep a single field refugee TAC located near the village of Matveyev Kurgan," Alexander Titov quotes Sergey Bondarev as stating.

"According to the top officials from the regional Department to Prevent Emergencies, the remaining field TAC can function during the next week," Alexander Titov has stated.
