Krasnodar: Martyniuk's advocate challenges his arrest
The defender of Leonid Martyniuk, a member of the Federal Political Council of the RPR-Parnas Party, who has served 10 days of his administrative arrest in jail in Krasnodar, has appealed against the arrest of his client at the Territorial Court; however, the complaint has not been considered yet, Martyniuk told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Martyniuk was detained in the evening on August 23 in Krasnodar on suspicion of hooliganism; and on August 24, he was arrested for ten days.
After serving his term in the UVD (Interior Department) of the Tsentralny District of Krasnodar, Leonid Martyniuk was back at large on September 2. He and his colleagues treat the administrative case against him as falsified and politically motivated.
After Martyniuk was released, Boris Nemtsov, a Co-Chair of the RPR-Parnas, said again that his colleague had been sentenced for 10 days on "charges of hooliganism, absolutely fabricated by the local police."
"The real reason for his arrest is entirely different: Leonid one of the most popular video bloggers in the country, the author of the 'Lies of Putin's Regime', which has gathered 24 million hits," Boris Nemtsov wrote on September 3 in his page on the Facebook, re-emphasizing that the "trumped-up case will be appealed against up to the Strasbourg Court."
