Advocate of Nalchik resident Zalimkhan Tkhamokov complains about unlawful detention of her client

The detention of Zalimkhan Tkhamokov, a resident of Nalchik, who had been earlier treated as kidnapped, was reported by his advocate Elena Bairamkulova. Zalimkhan Tkhamokov is accused of illegal possession of weapons, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 9, the HRC "Memorial" was contacted by Eliza, the wife of Zalimkhan Tkhamokov. According to the woman, unidentified men in masks kidnapped her husband from a taxi company, where he worked as a taxi driver.

"Zalimkhan stated that the armed men forced him into their car, handcuffed him and planted a grenade and a fuse to his trouser pockets. Then, they invited witnesses and 'seized' banned items. Moreover, law enforcers 'found' rounds in the Zalimkhan's minibus," the press release of the HRC "Memorial" states.

According to Zalimkhan Tkhamokov, when questioning him, policemen threatened him with death if he would not sign a confession. Fearing for his life and health, Zalimkhan Tkhamokov confessed to the crime, which, according to him, he never committed, the HRC "Memorial" reports with reference to Elena Bairamkulova.
