"Kommersant": militants killed in Dagestan identified as Fizuli Mirzakhanov and Djafar Khanmagomedov

During the special operation conducted in the Tabasaran District of Dagestan, two men were killed. They have been preliminary identified as Fizuli Mirzakhanov and Djafar Khanmagomedov, members of the local militant grouping named "Yuzhnaya" (Southern), the "Kommersant" has reported with reference to sources in law enforcement bodies. Dagestani militants confirm the deaths of Fizuli Mirzakhanov and Djafar Khanmagomedov.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 11, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime was introduced in the Tabasaran District of Dagestan. Two persons were killed during an armed clash in the vicinities of the villages of Uzul and Khuchni. According to the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) of Russia, they were members of the armed underground.

According to the preliminary information, the casualties were identified as Fizuli Mirzakhanov, a 36-year-old native of the village of Akka of the Tabasaran District, who had served his term for involvement in an illegal armed formation (IAF), and Djafar Khanmagomedov, a 29-year-old resident of Derbent.

According to law enforcers, Fizuli Mirzakhanov headed the Tabasaran division of the "Yuzhnaya" terrorist grouping. He joined militants after he had been released from prison in 2012.

Power agents assert that Mirzakhanov, also known among militants under his Arab name of Usman, was involved in the terror act committed by a suicide bomber near the ROVD in the village of Khuchni, Tabasaran District of Dagestan, on September 23, 2013, where three persons were killed.
