Kizilyurt resident reports on kidnapping of her son

Islam Shamsudinov, a resident of Kizilyurt, was kidnapped by men in uniform. This was reported by his mother Mavlet. A friend of the disappeared man believes that he was kidnapped by law enforcers. Officials from the Kizilyurt OVD (Interior Division) deny the detention of Islam Shamsudinov.

On Friday, Mavlet Shamsudinova has filed a complaint about the disappearance of her son to the Dagestan Regional Public Organization (DRPO) "Pravozaschita" (Advocacy), the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Aisha Selimkhanova, a member of the DRPO. According to her, the human rights defenders did not succeed in finding any information about the whereabouts of the disappeared man.

Mavlet Shamsudinova said that on September 9, her eldest son Islam, born in 1979, left the house with his son in a BMW car. They went to football training. Later, Islam sent the child home; however, he never returned from the training.

"Later, it was reported that the men in uniform stopped the car. Four persons got out, step into the car and drove my son away to some unknown destination," the woman states.

She emphasizes that earlier, Islam used to work for the law enforcement bodies and that he "was not involved in anything unlawful."

A friend of the disappeared man has stated that Islam Shamsudinov was most likely kidnapped by the law enforcement bodies. However, he found it difficult to determine the reasons for the kidnapping.
