Law enforcers suspect prosecutor Magomed Shapiev of opening fire on policeman in Dagestan, source reports

Magomed Shapiev, the Acting Prosecutor of the Gunib District, is suspected of opening fire on a policeman and wounding the victim, sources in the law enforcement bodies report.

According to residents of the village of Gunib, on September 11, in their village, they witnessed a quarrel between the public prosecutor and policemen, who stopped his car. According to the villagers, during the conflict, the prosecutor shot at one of the policemen. Officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan have confirmed only the information that the policeman was wounded.

Investigators believe that Magomed Shapiev shot at the policeman at least twice, stated a source in the regional law enforcement bodies. In turn, officials from the Prosecutor's Office reported on the official investigation into the circumstances of the incident instituted by the head of the Prosecutor's Office, the "ITAR-TASS" reports.

Magomed Shapiev holds the position of Assistant Prosecutor of the Gunib District, and he has been appointed Acting District Prosecutor for the period of the vacation leave of his chief Khizri Khiraev. The suspect works at the Prosecutor's Office for the third year, the "Kommersant" reports with reference to a source in the district administration.

The wounded policeman is Abdula Bigachev, and he is 36 years old, the "LifeNews" reports.
