On September 1-7, 2014, nine persons fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the week of September 1-7, 2014, at least nine persons were killed in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. No wounded persons were reported. These are the results of calculations made by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

The death toll includes, according to law enforcers, four suspected members of the armed underground, and five civilians, all of them in Dagestan.

Attacks on law enforcers

On September 2, in Dagestan, in the village of Semender of the Kirov District of Makhachkala, policemen tried to stop a car for a check. A driver opened fire on the policemen, and he was killed by return fire. He was identified as Radjab Mustafaev, a 36-year-old resident of Dagestan, born in 1978. According to law enforcers, the killed man was an active accomplice of militants from the "Makhachkala" grouping.

On September 6, in the city of Khasavyurt in Dagestan, inspectors of the road-and-patrol service (known as DPS) tried to stop a VAZ-2114 car for a check; however, two men in the car opened fire on the policemen, and they were killed by return fire. The killed men were members of the "Khasavyurt" militant grouping, and they were preliminary identified as Ruslan Magomedov and Magomed Gaziev. According to the "Kommersant", one of the killed men was identified incorrectly: not Ruslan Magomedov, but Eldar Khaidarbiev was killed.

Special and counterterrorist operations

On September 3, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime was introduced in the Kirov District of Makhachkala. On the same day, it was reported on a VAZ-2107 car with bullet holes found in the village of Shamkhal. A body of a murdered man was found in the passenger compartment, and bodies of four other deceased men were found next to the car. According to preliminary information, the murdered men were hunters. Law enforcers do not rule out involvement of members of the armed underground in the incident and in that regard conducted the special operation in the Kirov District, the sources stated.

On September 5, the CTO regime was introduced in the village of Kichi-Gamri of the Sergokala District of Dagestan. A house with a yard was cordoned off on the outskirts of the village, and a suspected member of the illegal armed formation (IAF) was killed during the shootout. According to law enforcers, the killed man was identified as Murad Gadjiev, an active member of the "Izberbash" militants' grouping, who was suspected of the murder of Federal Judge Akhmed Radjabov committed in March 2013 in Izberbash.

Bombings and terror acts

On September 7, in the Dagestani city of Kizilyurt, an explosion occurred in a grocery store located in a residential area in Gamzat Tsadas Street. No information on victims was reported. The store sold food products and alcoholic beverages.
