"Edinaya Rossiya" candidate demands vote recount at elections to Volgograd Regional Duma

On September 16, the Territorial Election Commission (TEC) of the Tsentralny District of Volgograd will recount the votes at one of the polling stations under the complaint of Gennady Murylyov, a candidate for the Regional Duma from the "Edinaya Rossiya" (United Russia) Party.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on the United Voting Day, September 14, Volgograd elected the regional governor, members of the regional legislature and municipal bodies of power.

In the Tsentralny District, according to preliminary data of the Regional Election Commission (REC), the final list is headed by Natalia Latyshevskaya, the nominee from the "Rodina" (Motherland) Party; however, her main opponent Gennady Murylyov was just six votes behind.

The complaint of Gennady Murylyov, the candidate from the Tsentralny Single-Mandate Constituency No. 16, was received by the TEC right after the end of voting, a source from the TEC told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"He states in the complaint that his observers were provided with an uncomfortable place; they were out of sight of the voting process; thus, the results of voting could be changed," said the source. "The applicant demands to review the voting outcomes at the Polling Station No. 1028 of the Tsentralny District of Volgograd."
