Russia's SC rejects complaint of Amirov's defence against Military Court's verdict
The Supreme Court (SC) of the Russian Federation has upheld the verdict of the North-Caucasian District Military Court passed to the dismissed Mayor of Makhachkala Said Amirov, who was convicted on charges of plotting a terror act.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 9 this year Said Amirov was sentenced to 10 years, and his nephew Yusup Djaparov – to 8.5 years in high security colony on charges of plotting a terror act. The defendants refused to plead guilty. On July 15, their advocates lodged an appeal complaint.
Today, at a session of the SC, they asked to acquit Amirov and Djaparov on all indictment points.
As reported by the ITAR-TASS, today, the Russia's SC has rejected the appeal complaint and the presentation of the Military Prosecutor's Office in relation to Said Amirov. However, it reduced the prison term of Amirov's nephew – the former Deputy Mayor of the city of Kaspiysk Yusup Djaparov by three months, that is down to 8 years and three months.
