Kalmykia: oppositional parties state election violations

Members of the opposition parties report on a large number of violations in connection with the early voting committed in the course of the elections to the Elista City Council held on September 14.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on a single day of voting of September 14, Russia held a number of elections to regional and local authorities.

In his interview to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, Alexander Boldyrev, the leader of the Kalmyk branch of the "Civic Platform" Party, has stated that he is not satisfied with the election outcome. According to Alexander Boldyrev, the "Civic Platform" Party gained at least 15%, and the announced outcome of the election can be explained by violations of the electoral law.

Let us remind you that, according to the election commission, the "Civic Platform" Party gained 10.81%.

"We are not satisfied with the election outcome in principle, and we believe it is falsified. During the election, voters have used a large number of absentee ballots, although Elista is not such a large city to use them. There is evidence that employees of the municipal public sector were forced to take absentee ballots and vote at different polling stations. Thus, one person had a chance to vote three times," Alexander Boldyrev has said.

At present, the "Civic Platform" Party analyzes the election results. According to Alexander Boldyrev, as soon as the party members receive the final report, they will consider the option to challenge the election outcome.
