Volgograd, parents of preschool children demand repairs of kindergartens
Activists of the public movement "Volgograd Parents for Children's Rights" have sent an appeal to 48 deputies of the Volgograd City Duma, claiming the catastrophic situation in kindergartens.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that participants of a picket held on September 6 in Volgograd demanded from the authorities to provide all children of the Volgograd Region with places in kindergartens until January 1, 2016, and to resume full financing of the already existing network of kindergartens in the Volgograd Region.
"Parents have decided to ask each deputy of the City Duma about what they have done to solve the problem and what they plan to do in this regard in 2015," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Olga Cheburakova, an activist of the public movement "Volgograd Parents for Children's Rights".
In their appeal, the activists have described the scale of the problem associated with the lack of financing to repair existing kindergartens as "tragic".
"At present, all expenses are mostly born by parents who are short of money to finance the maintenance of the buildings of the preschool educational institutions," the activists of the public movement write in their appeal.
