On September 15-21, 2014, three persons fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the week of September 15-21, 2014, at least two persons were killed in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. One person was wounded. These are the results of calculations made by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

Attacks on law enforcers

On September 14, at the federal highway "Kavkaz", near the village of Gazi-Yurt in the Nazran District of Ingushetia, policemen tried to stop a VAZ-2107 car to check the driver's ID; however, the driver tried to escape. In the village of Plievo, unidentified persons fired several shots on policemen from automatic weapons, no one was wounded. The gunmen managed to escape the chase.

On September 21, in the town of Karabulak in Ingushetia, policemen tried to stop a VAZ-2199 car to check the IDs of the people inside the car. The passengers tried to escape and opened fire on the police car during the chase. As a result of the shootout, a policeman and one of the attackers were killed. Other attackers managed to escape. The policemen found a Kalashnikov submachine gun and a large quantity of ammunition near killed attacker.

Special and counterterrorist operations

On September 17, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime was introduced in the Buynaksk District of Dagestan, and law enforcers organized activities to search for militants.

On September 18, local residents reported that the village of Vremenny in the Untsukul District was cordoned off by law enforcers, whose number exceeded 1000 people. The entrances to the village were blocked by military vehicles. The law enforcers were searching for militants in the wooded area.

On September 18, the Gimry tunnel was closed for five days within the CTO regime introduced on March 8, 2014. According to a source in the law enforcement bodies, the major search activities within the CTO regime introduced in Buynaksk are conducted in the vicinities of the villages of Verkhnee Kazanische and Nizhnee Kazanische.

Bombings and terror acts

On September 18, a resident of the village of Plievo of the Nazran District of Ingushetia was hospitalized with injuries resulted from an explosion of a hand grenade. Apart from the man, his wife and child were also inside the house, and they were not injured.

Attacks on civilians

On September 14, in a yard of a private house located in the Cossack village of Troitskaya of the Sunzha District of Ingushetia, unidentified shot and killed a 62-year-old local resident. The man died on the spot. According to Akhmet Buzurtanov, the head of the village administration, the killed had no enemies. At present, investigators have no versions on the motives for the murder.

Kidnappings

On September 15, in Makhachkala, unidentified persons kidnapped Zarkipli Ramazanov. This was reported by his father Musanip Ramazanov. The man was detained by unidentified men in masks who arrived in a car. Relatives of the kidnapped man have got the information that he is being kept at the FSB. According to the relatives, the man was to be sent home on September 18; however, he was not released.

In the afternoon of September 17, near the secondary medical school in the centre of Grozny, law enforcers drove a young woman dressed in Muslim clothing away to some unknown place. Eyewitnesses of the incident claim they are not aware of her further fate.
