Ingush MIA identifies suspected militant killed in shootout

A man killed in the shootout in Karabulak has been identified. He was a local resident, registered at the police as a member of the armed underground. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Ingushetia. According to investigators, apart from the identified man, two other persons were shooting at the policemen; however, they managed to flee.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that, according to law enforcers, on September 21, the shootout began after the policemen tried to stop a car to check the IDs of people inside it. Two men a suspected militant and a policeman were killed in the armed clash between the people from the car and the law enforcers.

The man killed in the shootout has been identified as a 24-year-old resident of Karabulak, who had earlier criminal record on charge of illegal arms trafficking. He was registered at the police as a member of illegal armed formations (IAFs) and a follower of radical Islam. Two his accomplices, who were together with him in the car, are being sought now, the website of the Ingush MIA reports.

The Ingush MIA also reports that two law enforcers were wounded in the shootout and that one of them died on the way to the hospital.

According to the Investigating Department for Ingushetia of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), the killed policeman was the 24-year-old Zubair Tsechoev.
