Dagestan holds exhibition "Heritage Energy" on 40th anniversary of Chirkei HPP

Photos and videos taken during the construction of the Chirkei Hydro Power Plant (HPP) in the 1970s, as well as photos of the drawings, made by Dagestani painters on the walls of the HPP within the art project, are presented at the exhibition "Heritage Energy" in Gallery One of the city Kaspiysk. The project is dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the HPP.

When the OJSC "RusHydro" invited painters to make a project dedicated to the anniversary of the largest HPP in Northern Caucasus, it was decided to paint on the walls of the HPP, said Jamila Dagirova, Director of Gallery One and project manager.

"We decided to decorate the HPP with signs, symbols, patterns, petroglyphs and images of the ancient culture of Dagestan, which stores the force of mountaineers and their powerful life-giving energy. These folk art items are well-recognizable symbols of the Dagestani culture and history," Dagirova told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The project attracted famous Dagestani painters Patimat Guseinova, Magomed Dibirov, Timur Musaev-Kagan, Musa Gaivoronskiy, as well as the project author and curator Jamila Dagirova.

In the opinion of Vagidat Shamadaeva, and arts critic, the project is of great importance for making people acquainted with the culture of Dagestan.

The exhibition was opened on September 17 and will run until November 1.
