Casualty of shootout in Ingushetia identified as Arthur Murzabekov

The alleged member of an illegal armed formation (IAF) killed in Ingushetia, in a shootout in the city of Karabulak, was identified as Arthur Murzabekov. Also, two persons suspected of aiding militants were detained, said the Ingush leader Yunus-Bek Evkurov.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported, referring to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Ingushetia, that the shootout in Karabulak on September 21 began after policemen tried to stop a car to check documents. In the course of the armed clash of the people in the car with power agents, two persons were killed. In particular, a 24-year-old resident of Karabulak, who was registered as an IAF member, was shot dead; and two law enforcers were wounded; one of them – the 24-year-old Zubair Tsechoev – later died on the way to the hospital.

Two persons were detained as suspects of aiding the armed underground. The search of two suspected militants, who were with Murzabekov during the shootout, continues, the ITAR-TASS reports with reference to Evkurov.

The perished Tsechoev, who protected his comrades from bullets with his body, and his wounded colleague "had exhibited courage and heroism and will be presented to state awards," said the head of Ingushetia.

In connection with the shootout, a criminal case was opened on an attempt on life of employees of law enforcement bodies and illegal arms circulation, said the ICRF (Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation). The punishment under these articles is up to life imprisonment.
