SC extends custody of 52 defendants in Nalchik attack case
The Supreme Court (SC) of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) has ruled to extend the custody of 52 defendants in the case of the attack on Nalchik by three more months.
The SC's session was chaired by Albert Betsukov, a member of the SC of the KBR, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports, citing a source from the SC.
During the session, the floor was given to all 29 advocates involved in the trial. Many of them refused to speak. Some of them, particularly Batyr Akhilgov, said stated that the composition of the court is "illegitimate, therefore, they wouldn't speak."
Other advocates petitioned to change their clients' freedom restraint to home arrest.
According to SC's ruling, five defendants, namely, Anzor Apshev, Sergey Kaziev, Kazbek Budtuev, Zalim Ulimbashev and Musa Soblirov, have their recognizance not to leave unchanged.
