Kurban Kurbanov, head of Derbent District, detained in Dagestan
This afternoon, law enforcers have detained Kurban Kurbanov, the head of the administration of the Derbent District of Dagestan, said the spokesman of the Investigating Department for the Republic of Dagestan (RD) of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that this August the Ministry of Property of Dagestan revealed violations of the land legislation in the Derbent District. In September, a criminal case was initiated against Kurban Kurbanov, the head of the Municipal Formation "Derbent District", on suspicion of abuse of office.
Earlier, the Dagestani leader Ramazan Abdulatipov had announced his intention to replace the head of the Derbent District.
Later, on July 30, some 600 residents of the district came out to protest against Kurban Kurbanov's dismissal.
