Office of NGO "Free Zone" attacked in Georgia

Last night, the office of the NGO "Free Zone" in Tbilisi was attacked by about 40-50 persons. The mob, armed with sticks, attacked the office around midnight on September 30, said Gela Vasadze, the Chairman of the Board of the "Free Zone".

"They knew very well that at that time there were no more that 10 persons in the office. Our guys called to patrol police for six times, but within half an hour nobody appeared," said Vasadze.

He added that not a single attacker on the "Free Zone" office was detained by the police; however, Parnoaz Chkadua, an NGO activist, who defended the office against the attack, was detained and is currently kept at the temporary detention facility.

Vasadze believes that the main reason for the attack on the activists of the "Free Zone" was Russia's discontent with the activities of the NGO.
