Chechnya enhances security measures before Eid al-Adha and several other holidays

On October 4-6, the law enforcement bodies of Chechnya will significantly enhance the security measures on the occasion of the upcoming celebration of the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha and other holidays, including the City Day in Grozny, the Chechen Youth Day and the Teacher's Day, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Starting from October 2, the Chechen law enforcers started to gradually move to the work in enhanced mode.

"This is a common set of measures applied during the holidays and various major cultural events. The enhanced security measures will continue until October 7," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by a Chechen law enforcer.

Meanwhile, on these days, local residents note the large number of new mobile police checkpoints in the streets of the Chechen capital and the main highways.

Eid al-Adha is celebrated 70 days after the holiday of Eid al-Fitr and marks the end of Hajj. On the occasion of celebration of Eid al-Adha, the Chechen authorities announced the day of October 6 as a day off in Chechnya.
