Azerbaijani natives hold protest action in Council of Europe

On October 2, in Strasbourg, a group of emigrants from Azerbaijan held a protest action when Elmar Mamedyarov, the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, was delivering his speech at the Plenary Session Hall of the PACE.

The representative of the Government of Azerbaijan has acted as Chairman of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe at the meeting of the PACE fall session. However, when Elmar Mamedyarov approached the tribune to start his speech, about 10 persons from the hall started chanting the slogan "Freedom to political prisoners in Azerbaijan!"

The Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan started his speech only after PACE President Anne Brasseur had urged the protesters to remain calm. However, they continued their protest action without words. The protestors were dressed in red T-shirts with photos of the activists arrested in Azerbaijan; and they raised their hands to show V-sign (Victory).
