Marching refugees plan to reach Tbilisi no later than October 6

The march of refugees from Poti to Tbilisi continues for the fourth day. Today, there are three marchers, who are on their way to Khashuri and plan to arrive in the capital of Georgia on October 6 at the latest, said Daredjan Tskhvitariya, the deputy chair of the "Women's Organizations" of the "United National Movement" (UNM) Party.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 30 some of the refugees living in Poti announced their intention to start a pedestrian march to Tbilisi in protest against the refusal of local authorities to provide them with apartments in one of the new buildings of the city.

Initially, there were six marchers, but three of them soon felt bad and had to stop their action, said Daredjan Tskhvitariya, who is one of the participants of the continued action.

According to her story, refugees live in Poti in very poor conditions. "These are not even houses – they are a sort of sheds unfit for living. Earlier, we held a 6-day-long hunger strike in the Poti Mayoralty, but no one paid any attention to us. Therefore, we decided to hold this march," said Tskhvitariya.
