Suicide bombing in Grozny kills five persons and injures 12

As a result of the suicide bombing committed in Grozny, ten injured persons are brought to City Hospital No. 9, and doctors assess their condition as stable. In total, the suicide bombing killed five persons and injured 12 others, said the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on Sunday, an explosion occurred in the centre of Grozny. The incident occurred before the beginning of the concert dedicated to the Day of the City. At the entrance to the concert hall, policemen noticed a suspicious young man. When they decided to search him, the man committed a suicide bombing, the MIA reports.

According to Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, an explosion during the concert could lead to a large number of casualties.

According to the updated information from the City Hospital No. 9, five persons died as a result of the suicide bombing, and all of them were staff members of the UVD (Interior Department) for the city of Grozny.

The Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) has reported that the suspected suicide bomber was Opti Mudarov, a 19-year-old local resident. According to the MIA, two months ago, he left his home in the Staropromyslovsky District of Grozny.

A criminal case was instituted on the fact of the incident under Article 317 (assault on law enforcers) and Article 222 (arms traffic) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
