Dagestani woman sentenced for "shakhid belt" appeals against her verdict

Sabina Abakarova, a resident of Makhachkala, was found guilty by the court of possession of a "shakhid belt", has appealed against the verdict. This was announced by her advocate Konstantin Mudunov.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 16, the Soviet District Court of Makhachkala found Sabina Abakarova guilty of possession of weapons and sentenced her to six months of imprisonment. Meanwhile, the Court has recorded the punishment as already served, since during the preliminary investigation, Sabina Abakarova spent six months in custody.

On September 25, the defender filed a brief appeal. At present, he is preparing a detailed appeal to the Supreme Court of Dagestan. "In our brief appeal, we have simply expressed our disagreement with the verdict. And at present, when I have got the protocol of the trial, I am preparing a detailed appeal, in which I am refuting the findings of the Court," the advocate has explained.

By taking the protocol of the judicial investigation as a base, the defence intends to prove that the "shakhid belt" had been planted to Sabina Abakarova and reveal the attempts to cover up those actions. "We will attach to our appeal video records of the search," Konstantin Mudunov has added.
