In Dagestan, deputy claims police limit his rights by putting him on "Wahhabi list"

Magomedrasul Aigumov, the deputy of the Gubden rural assembly of deputies, has complained about the unlawful actions of policemen, who include him in the "Wahhabi list". According to Magomedrasul Aigumov, he is repeatedly stopped at checkpoints and detained for several hours for verification.

On October 10, Magomedrasul Aigumov was stopped at the police checkpoint in Kizilyurt, and he had to wait for a car from the ROVD (District Interior Division), the deputy told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to Magomedrasul Aigumov, he was registered at the police as a Wahhabi 1.5 years ago, after the death of his son, who became a member of an illegal military formation (IAF). Recently, however, the deputy faces more frequent checks.

According to advocate Elena Denisenko, the Aigumov family members have faced problems even earlier, although Magomedrasul Aigumov himself "did not violate the law."

"We have got an instruction to bring citizens under preventive supervision to the ROVD for further verification. This citizen is under preventive supervision as a Wahhabi," said an on duty law enforcer from the Kizilyurt checkpoint.

Advocate Rinat Gamidov believes that such police actions are most likely regulated by a kind of internal instruction or a secret order issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).
