Organizer of anti-government action in Krasnodar asks for political asylum in Ukraine

Vyacheslav Martynov, a 21-year-old resident of Krasnodar, who organized in his city a protest action against the Russia's policy in Ukraine, asked the Ukrainian authorities for political asylum. According to the young man, he feared criminal prosecution in Russia on charges of public appeals for extremist activities.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 17, Vyacheslav Martynov was detained in Krasnodar at the action against the Russia's policy. On September 25, the "Rosfinmonitoring" (Russian Federal Financial Monitoring Agency) put Vyacheslav Martynov on the official list of terrorists and extremists.

Vyacheslav Martynov has made his statement on seeking a political asylum in Kharkov, where he arrived to visit his friends. The young man told the Ukrainian media that he prepared his protest action in Krasnodar by analogy with the protest marches that took place in recent years in Russia. This was reported by the "Segodnya.ua" on October 10.

"After a clash with a pro-Russian protester, we were taken to the police station. However, a provocateur was released, and I was arrested for 15 days," Vyacheslav Martynov said as quoted by the "Segodnya.ua".

According to Vyacheslav, he made a decision to leave Russia forever after the "Rosfinmonitoring" put him on the official list of terrorists and extremists.
