Georgian NGOs ask authorities to protect Saikhan Muzaev's rights

In Georgia, six NGOs have sent an appeal to the President and the Prime Minister asking to protect the rights of Saikhan Muzaev, a native of Chechnya. For nine months, he cannot leave the country because of the refusal issued by the Georgia's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in January 2014, Saikhan Muzaev, a native of Chechnya, was supposed to take a plane to leave for London to study there. However, on January 13, 18, 23 and February 10 and 17, the man, who had a ticket and a visa to entry the UK, was not allowed to pass through passport control.

The appeal to protect the rights of Saikhan Muzaev was signed by the leaders of the Georgian Young Lawyers' Association, the Transparency International Georgia, the Centre for Human Rights, the Institute of Human Rights, the "Article 42 of the Constitution", and the Centre for teaching and monitoring of human rights.

According to the authors of the appeal, the Georgian MIA still does not give the reasons for refusing Saikhan Muzaev to cross the border.
