On October 6-12, at least 11 persons fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the week of October 6-12, 2014, at least 11 persons were killed in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. No wounded persons were reported. These are the results of calculations made by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

The death toll includes eight suspected member of the armed underground and three law enforcers, all of them in Dagestan.

Attacks on law enforcers

On October 6, in the village of Kirovaul of the Kizilyurt District of Dagestan, law enforcers carried out targeted checks, when fire was opened on them from one of the private houses. According to the preliminary information, two fighters from the mobile unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) were killed. One of the attackers was killed by return fire.

The killed man has been preliminary identified as 29-year-old Alidibir Asludinov, who was on the federal wanted list for involvement in illegal armed formations (IAFs). According to the Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC), the killed man was a member of the "Kizilyurt" militant grouping.

On October 6, in the settlement of Vremenny of the Untsukul District of Dagestan, four bodies of other suspected militants were found at the place of the armed clash, which occurred on October 2. In total, seven suspected members of IAFs were killed.

At night of October 8, in the village of Khebda of the Shamil District of Dagestan, a police checkpoint was attacked. Three men drove up to the police checkpoint in a Daewoo Nexia car, which they stole from a local resident, and opened fire from automatic weapons. Three attackers were killed by return fire. No law enforcer suffered.

The killed men have been preliminary identified as Nazim, Murad, and Sabir Rashidov. All three of them were in the federal wanted list for a number of criminal charges, including murder, arms trafficking and involvement in an IAF. They were members of the so-called "Balakhani" criminal grouping.

On October 12, during the operational activities carried by law enforcers in the vicinity of the village of Gubden of the Karabudakhkent District of Dagestan, an unidentified man shot at a policeman. Later, the policeman died from the gunshot wound.

Detentions

On October 6, in Chechnya, a 22-year-old resident of the Urus-Martan District was detained on suspicion of aiding and abetting a member of the armed underground. According to the law enforcement bodies, in summer of 2014, the suspect was harbouring a militant during a week and provided him with a car. The young man was detained by staff members of the MIA and the "E" Centre. He confessed to the law enforcers in his actions.

On October 6, in the village of Kirovaul in Dagestan, law enforcers held a special operation, after which Patimat Nasibova, a local resident, born in 1980, was detained. According to the detainee's advocate, the woman is suspected of aiding and abetting members of an IAF.

On October 10, in Ingushetia, during the search operations, law enforcers detained Zyaudin Chaniev, born in 1986, who was a member of the so-called "Karabulak" militant grouping. According to the law enforcers, the grouping was involved in planting of IEDs (improvised explosive devices) in Karabulak in 2014. According to the secret services, Zyaudin Chaniev was also involved in the shelling of policemen on September 21.

In the afternoon of October 8, Islamic preacher Abu Khalid Nadir (Nadir Medetov) was kidnapped in Makhachkala. According to eyewitnesses, the religious leader was detained by staff members of one of the federal law enforcement bodies. Until the very evening, his whereabouts was unknown, and his family members were searching for him. In the evening, his family members reported that Nader Abu Khalid and his brother were brought to the Kirov ROVD (District Interior Division) of Makhachkala. According to the family members of Abu Khalid Nadir, a weapon was planted to him.

The police do not confirm the information about the detention of Nadir Abu Khalid. In the same evening, the law enforcers carried out searches in the detainee's household and in the office of the website "Salyaf.ru", which posted video records of the lectures given by Nadir Abu Khalid. According to the detainee's advocate, Abu Khalid Nadir is charged with illegal possession of firearms.

On October 12, in the village of Sernovodsk of the Sunzha District of Chechnya, a local resident was detained on suspicion of involvement in IAFs. According to the Chechen MIA, the suspect confessed that in the summer of 2002, he joined one of the criminal groupings, and he was armed with a Kalashnikov submachine gun and seven magazines of ammunition. The man said that he "was not involved in the armed clashed and other actions against law enforcers and civilians." He left the IAF in October 2003.
