Oleg Shein reports demolition of historic building on Astrakhan embankment
On October 12, Oleg Shein, the head of the Astrakhan regional branch of the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya (Fair Russia), stated that the historic building of the rescue station in Astrakhan, on the VolgaRiver embankment had been demolished.
The historic building was erected in 1938 on the central Volga embankment. During the Great Patriotic War, the building housed Soviet militaries, who ensured the work of the crossing facility of the VolgaRiver.
"The demolition of the rescue station was conducted in the 'blitzkrieg' manner – quickly and secretly. This is not the first barbarism of local authorities against their city," Oleg Shein wrote on October 12 on his page in the "LiveJournal".
According to the plan of the authorities, constructivism-style building will be erected instead of the demolished rescue station; it will have the administrative status and house cafés and offices, the "Ast-news.ru" reports.
