Refugees protest in Poti

On October 13, refugees and vulnerable persons held a protest action in Poti. They have blocked one of the highways of the city.

Until October 13, protesters spent several days demanding from the authorities to provide electricity supply to the building, allocated for their accommodation.

After the authorities failed to listen to their demands, people held a protest action. This was reported by the "InterpressNews" on October 13 with reference to one of the protestors.

During the protest action, the protesters blocked the road to the economic zone in Poti.

At the protest action, the protesters have stated that they do not intend to leave the place and threatened to go on hunger strike if their demand is not satisfied. After that, the protesters were approached by law enforcers, the "Georgia Online" reports.

No detentions as a result of the protest action have been reported. Meanwhile, no comments from the city authorities on the actions of the protesters have been made.
