In Novorossiysk, soldiers are sentenced to one year of imprisonment for extortion and beating their colleague
In the Krasnodar Territory, the Novorossiysk Garrison Military Court has found two soldiers of the military unit No. 74814 guilty of extortion with use of violence against their colleague.
On May 9, according to investigators, the young men beat a soldier of the same military unit in the sleeping room of the barrack for his refusal to give them 500 roubles at their request.
The soldiers were charged under Paragraphs "a" and "b" of Part 2 of Article 163 (extortion committed by a group of persons by previous concert with the use of violence) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported on violations of the rights of conscripts and regular soldiers and on cases of hazing in military units in the southern part of Russia, including in Novorossiysk. So, in February 2012, in Novorossiysk, a soldier was sentenced to 6.5 years of imprisonment. He was accused of beating several of his colleagues, one of whom, a 21-year-old sailor, died.
