In Stavropol Territory court extends arrest of Imam of Kislovodsk

The Predgorny District Court of the Stavropol Territory has ruled to extend, until January 15, 2015, the custody of Kurman-Ali Baichorov, the Imam of the city of Kislovodsk.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 29, 2013, Imam Kislovodsk Kurman-Ali (Kurman) Baichorov was accused of illegal possession of narcotic drugs.

On October 14, a court session considered a motion lodged by the defence to cancel Baichorov's custody and apply a softer, non-custodial freedom restriction measure. However, the court dismissed the motion and extended the arrest by three months.

Let us remind you that on August 28 a meeting with Imam's relatives took place in the office of the Chechen Ombudsman, where it was decided to send an appeal to Russian President Vladimir Putin and the acting head of the Stavropol Territory Vladimir Vladimirov and ask them to supervise the inquiry into the Imam's case.
